As part of Climate Change course, a study tour was conducted for 2nd year MBA (RM) students to Mangalajodi, Eco-tourism site. Mangalajodi is a wetland in the northern part of Chilika Lake (largest brackish water lake covering a stretch of 80 kms. The wetland is rich in floral and faunal biodiversity, particularly inland and migratory birds. Migratory birds in huge populations (in lakhs) from as far as Siberia, Central Asia and Europe visit the place from October to March. The area displays a rich diversity in colours and sounds of these birds. The area becomes an excellent place to study the components of wetlands, their importance as wetland ecosystem, local livelihood and impact of climate change.
