An alumni talk was organized by KSRM on 19-01-2024 on the topic ‘developing women led collectives in agribusiness- the why, what and how?’.

The speaker for the talk was Mr. Mohammad Sultan, alumni from the MBA (Rural Management) batch of 2015-17. He works as an expert in agribusiness and entrepreneurship development at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). Prior to that he worked with Techno serve, Samunnati and EY on many diversified projects. Mr. Sultan has experience Mr. Sultan also has experience across multiple sectors, including the Government, corporate, consulting, and rural development domains.

In his talk, Mr. Sultan emphasized on women led collectives in the domain of agribusiness. He elaborated the concept of women farmer collectives, challenges of aggregation and collective marketing. Through a conceptual framework, Mr. Sultan elaborated the various components of women led FPOs and its impact on livelihood improvement and increased household income. He also spoke about the various initiatives taken by IRRI on promotion of women FPOs and women entrepreneurship through a 9 month certificate programme.
