Bishakha Bhanja, Regional Manager for WaterAid (India) East Zone office visited KSRM on 7th July, 2016
Bishakha Bhanja, Regional Manager for WaterAid India East Zone office inducted students on 7th July, 2016 in the beginning of their two year Post Graduate Programme in Rural Management on the nuances of rural life and emphasized on the principles of equity and inclusion. She exemplified the gaps emerging globally and the sharpening economic schisms and put forward to the students cases of the Indian Dalits and Adivasis “Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes” and the increasing disparity between the haves and have nots.
She also emphasized on the declining sex ratios as a result of the strengthening of patriarchy and the emergence of a strongly neoliberal market based model. She spoke about the widening inequities between the genders and the need to provide solutions to correct the lopsided growth models being followed globally. She appealed to the students of Rural Management to develop a deep understanding on exclusion and inequity to address widening disparities.
