The speaker for the event was Mr. Satyapriya Sahu, alumni of MBA (Rural Management) from the batch of 2010-12. He is an accomplished rural development practitioner with over 13 years of experience and passionately committed to driving environmental and social change. His extensive work with organizations like Reliance Foundation, Digital Green, UNDP, and SELCO Foundation has shaped his expertise. Currently, he serves as the State Lead for SELCO Foundation in Odisha.
Reflecting on his journey, Mr. Satyapriya shared valuable insights from his formative years at KIIT School of Rural Management and his impactful tenure with Reliance Foundation. He delved into the significance of decentralized renewable energy (DRE), particularly solar energy, as a catalyst for sustainable livelihood solutions. He underscored the essential role that sustainable energy plays in uplifting the livelihoods of marginalized communities, highlighting the pervasive issue of energy poverty. Mr. Satyapriya further explored the vital connection between solar energy and Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7), which aims to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy. He also articulated SELCO Foundation’s innovative approach to ecosystem development, which has successfully fostered various sustainable livelihood solutions. Additionally, he shed light on the foundation’s “Energy for Health” program, elaborating on its implementation and far-reaching impact.
