It was our great privilege to come across with Prof. P. Viswanath, faculty of PACE University, New York. He is currently working on many projects in India, one among them being functioning of MFI’s in South India.
In his talk to the students of KSRM, Prof. Vishwanath brought out the importance of market access for any livelihood initiative. He cited examples of many MFI’s which are failing in their initiatives towards poverty alleviation for unable to provide market access for the livelihood programs sponsored by them. Dr Vishwanath’s prescription for setting up of a sustainable business enterprise was an effective linkage of livelihood, market access and financial services .Dr Vishwanath spoke about his recent interest that he has developed in Buddhist studies. He also discussed about the relationship between the market and Sangha.
