The KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) has launched a new and unique BBA (Rural Management) in this academic year 2017-18. This three year programme will have six semesters consisting of both class room courses and experiential learning through two field segments. The students will also have the opportunity to work on a project for the course on ‘Rural Entrepreneurship’. During their final year of study, students can opt for eight specialized courses in the areas of Rural Finance, Rural Livelihoods and Rural Marketing. Four of these courses will be from the major specialization chosen by the students and the remaining four will be from minor specializations. The first batch of BBA (Rural Management) has 30 students. Prof LK Vaswani, Director, KSRM while welcoming the first batch of the students provided details about the structure of the programme and the career opportunities. He also thanked Prof Achyuta Samanta, the Hon’ble Founder of KIIT and KISS for motivating and guiding the KSRM in launching the new BBA (Rural Management) programme, the only one of its kind.

First batch BBA (Rural Management) (2017-20) students visited Sakhigopal Regulated Market Committee on 18 Aug 2017

 The students of the newly launched BBA (Rural Management) visited Sakhigopal Regulated Market Committee (RMC), Sakhigopal, Puri district on 18 August 2017 to understand its functioning. They interacted with the Secretary of the RMC, Shri Kamal Kumar Acharya and other officials who briefed the students about the objectives and activities of the RMC. They observed the process of auctioning and went around the 25 acres market to understand on first hand basis about the facilities provided to the stakeholders like coconut farmers and traders. They learnt about the markets for the coconut, byproducts of coconut like coir, dimensions of grading and auctioning processes. The Secretary has also provided details about sub-market yards, members of the market committee and regulated commodities of the RMC. The students were accompanied by Prof V Venkatakrishnan, Prof Srilata Patnaik and other officials from the KSRM.
